COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
SUKKOT AT THE SILVERLAKE JCC
We had an awesome time running the SIJCC's Sukkot Family Day. We taught about the Jewish value of being welcoming by exploring immigration stories, including our own family's stories. Kids were inspired by the Tenement Museum's Your Story, Our Story online exhibit and created their own collection on the website (check it out HERE!) The activity ended with an "action fair" - we sent postcards to our representatives and made protest signs to hang up in the community sukkah.
HIKES WITH PJ LIBRARY
We had so much fun leading PJ Library's Rosh Hashanah hike in Will Rogers State Park! We turned the hike into a birthday party for the world! We played games along the hike and created birthday cards on seed paper! We're looking forward to November 18th, where we'll be hiking El Escorpion Canyon Park!
IKAR HOLIDAYS + SHABBATON
We love spending time teaching about different holidays at IKAR. You can find us at Rosh Hashanah, Tu B'Shvat, Purim, and at the yearly Shabbaton.
LIMMUD BAY AREA
Since 2012 we've been running Camp Limmud at Limmud Bay Area, a weekend-long Jewish learning conference in Sonoma. Our learning focus this year was the environment and what Jewish values, wisdom, and tradition tell us about how to care for our planet.
SHOLEM ARTS DAY + NITSANIMOT
Throughout the year, Gilboa visits the Sholem community to lead a monthly art activity and educational programs in classes. Sholem kids and their friends are also invited to join a special camp session.
PASSOVER AT TEMPLE BETH AM
Temple Beth Am's Global Freedom Forum focused on learning about the experiences of refugees and better understanding today's refugee crisis. While the adults heard from speakers, Gilboa ran a parallel activity for the kids where we learned about the same topics through art and drama.
