The Ofarim program is the most unique Gesher experience available to first-time chanichim usually finishing grades 2 or 3. The program consists of twelve days in which the Ofarim campers are exposed to every aspect of Gesher. The Ofarim participate in most machaneh - wide activities, while still maintaining some independence in their schedule with
"Ofarim-specific" activities that prepare them to integrate into Camp Gesher
as full-time chanichim. The Ofarim are fully supervised 24 hours per day by their madrichim. There is typically a ratio of atleast 1 madrich per 2 Ofarim in both the boys' and girls' cabins. The entire machaneh adores the Ofarim; the older chanichim watch out for them as special guests. Of course, for the duration of their stay, the ofarim experience the standard daily programming of waterfront sessions, art & crafts, sports, etc., as well as spectacular night activities. The Ofarim program is a fantastic way for children to be introduced to sleepover camp, particularly Gesher. It will likely be the best part of their summer.
