When it comes time to sending their children to camp, most alumni don’t hesitate to sign them up for Gesher, knowing their children will experience the same amazing summers they themselves recall so fondly. And, while we have implemented many changes for the better over the past few years, we have also worked hard to preserve the unique spirit and integrity of Gesher as we improve and upgrade virtually every aspect of the camp to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
Take a quick look at the following improvements that have helped make Gesher an even more incredible experience than you remember!ACCOMMODATIONS
While many of you have wonderful memories of sleeping in tents, today’s campers live in cabins fully equipped with important safety features including fire extinguishers, lighted exit signs and back doors; the interiors have been significantly renovated to ensure that all campers have their own shelving unit near their bed. Best of all, every cabin has a beautiful front porch that overlooks majestic Lake Pringle. But not to worry: the excitement of sleeping together under one roof, staying up late and sharing with pals at night is just as magical as ever!FOOD
As we’re sure you remember, camp food was only a step up from airplane food back when you were young Gesherites. Even in recent memory, gluey pasta and stale grilled cheese were staples. However, over the past five summers, we have raised the bar dramatically. Corn and bread are no longer considered meals. Today, the food isn’t just passable—it is excellent, delicious and nutritious! Our Israeli style menu provides a variety of options, as does our separate menus for special diets (i.e. vegetarian, vegan, organic, gluten-free, etc.) No more tummy-aching and filling bellies with candy late at night! Campers desires and needs are accommodated while maintaining a Kibbutz kitchen atmosphere.PROGRAMMING
Onto activities! Activities, you ask? Perhaps lashing trees together was a sufficient activity years ago, but these days, Gesher provides our campers with a wide variety of activities to join throughout the day. Waterfront activities including kayaking, canoeing, fishing, water skiing and playing on the water trampoline complement our drama, sports, Hebrew, music, and martial arts programs. Our morning flagpole sing-a-longs, Shabbat programs and beachfront Havdalah services ensure the special camp spirit that keeps our children coming back year after year.SUPERVISON
Not only are ALL our staff high-school graduates trained in first-aid, but the overwhelming majority of our counselors were raised at Gesher! We also boast a staff from a variety of countries, most hailing from other Habonim Dror camps in both North and South America. In addition, our camper to staff ratio, at one per every three to four campers, is second to none.GESHER KESHER
Our focus now is to renew the kesher – or connection, with our Gesher alumni, and for the past five years we have been working hard to do just that. We have hired an alumni coordinator, updated our alumni pages on the Gesher website and invited alumni and their families to visit the camp to see all our terrific improvements for themselves.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

As Gesher approaches it 50th summer, it is still as beautiful as ever. The sunsets from ski rock are still as breathtaking and the staff is still awesome—spirited, caring, talented and full of ruach. And the campers still leave at the end of the summer having developed new personal skills, a stronger sense of character, a profound connection with Jewish culture and memories that last a lifetime.
You can help ensure other children have an opportunity to enjoy a wonderfully magical summer by spreading the word: Camp Gesher is the perfect place to send them for the most unique, rewarding and meaningful summer experience of their lives.
We can’t wait to see your children at camp this summer!
